new direction for this blog

I am 30 years old. Yes this is not new, in fact I am getting close to 31. And I am about to be a dad. (3 weeks from now). AND its 2009, ridiculous.

So my point is there is a lot of change going on in my life and in light of a post my friend James wrote a while back about determining the direction of his blog, I am beginning to ask myself the same question.

Is there anything you have appreciated about this blog?

Is there any specific topic that you would like me to cover more?

The truth is, I am not going to stop writing, as it is a great restful activity for me, but in light of these changes in my life and my desire to be more streamlined, I wanted to work through perhaps a new direction for this blog.

I was inspired reading jen lemen‘s blog today. Not necessarily because I connect with her writing, but I connect with her passion for stories, her commitment to her writing and her consistency in her stories.

Perhaps this blog will be nothing more than a venting, random space for me, but maybe with a little inspiration it will be give me and perhaps someone some life… I think that’s my hope for this blog… life.

personally, i’m a fan of the “man in the mirror” stuff…you’ve got a knack for introspection that is actually helpful, and not just navel gazing.

so long as you don’t get too mushy (i realize a baby might soften you up a bit) i’d say the blogosphere is ripe for some more of your personal reflection. maybe the look ahead this year will be a look back….

I like the book reviews … I’ve picked up a couple on your suggestion and have not been disappointed.

Thanks guys I appreciate the insight.

I was worried that my self reflection was too navel gazing-ish, and my reviews were filler.

I enjoy reading some more thoughtful updates on your life than Twitter allows for. It’s good to keep up. I’d enjoy some more musings and meditations on whatever you’re paying attention to or thinking about at the moment. More like your recent post on bad habbits.

First off, let me congratulate you for the forthcoming addition to the family (and the fine selection of a wife).

I find that twitter is a lot more personal and soundbitey. It is good for attention grabbing, but blogs have a home for more comprehensive discussion and reflection. See, you got my attention by your twitter post, but this type of response wouldn’t fit in a twitter DM or reply.

I won’t ever abandon my blog, no matter how low the traffic gets. I love blogging, and I believe that the medium holds a lot of potential for connecting people, communities and everyone.
